Wallbox Pulsar Pro 22kW

The Wallbox Pulsar Pro is a 22kW three-phase charger with a 5 metre tethered Type 2 cable. At 1.4 kg it is one of the lightest 22kW chargers on the market, which makes wall or pole installation straightforward. 4G comes fitted as standard alongside WiFi and Bluetooth, so the unit stays online in car parks and commercial sites where network access is unreliable.

ISO 15118-20 support enables Plug & Charge: when the car connects, it authenticates automatically with the charger without an RFID card or app interaction. RFID is also included for sites that use access cards. Both methods can run alongside each other.

Power Sharing links up to 100 Pulsar Pro units on a single electrical connection and distributes available current across them. That makes the Pulsar Pro a practical choice for fleet depots, car parks, and multi-unit commercial installations without requiring dedicated circuits for each charger.

Every unit includes a free MyWallbox Business license. The portal manages multiple chargers, users, and locations from one screen. You can set charging tariffs and open stations to the public for paid sessions. The internal power meter tracks consumption at over 98% accuracy - not MID-certified, but adequate for most business reporting needs. For MID-certified billing, consider the Easee Charge Max.

The optional Wallbox Power Boost adds dynamic load balancing, which watches your site's total power draw and adjusts charge current to prevent overload. The Power Boost also enables the Eco-Smart function, which charges from solar surplus rather than the grid. Without the Power Boost, the Pulsar Pro runs as a standalone 22kW charger with manual current adjustment.

This charger uses a universal Type 2 connector, compatible with all major EVs including Tesla (with adapter), BMW, VW, Audi, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes, Volvo, Polestar, and more.

What does installation involve?

Do I need a dedicated circuit?
Yes, a dedicated 32A circuit is required. Your electrician will confirm your consumer unit has capacity.

Can I claim the OZEV grant?
Yes. If you own your home and have an eligible EV, you can claim up to £500 off the cost of a charge point and installation. We are OZEV-approved.

Common Questions

Do I need a professional to install my EV charger?

Yes - all home EV charger installations in the UK must be carried out by an OZEV-approved electrician. It's not just best practice, it's a legal requirement under BS 7671 wiring regulations. The charger also won't be eligible for the government grant unless an approved installer fits it.

Can I claim the OZEV grant when buying through ON-EV?

Yes. The OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant gives eligible homeowners up to £350 off the cost of buying and installing a home charger. To qualify you need to use an OZEV-approved installer - the grant covers both the unit and the labour. Your installer will usually handle the application for you.

What's the difference between a tethered and untethered charger?

A tethered charger has a cable permanently attached - you just unclip and plug in. Untethered has a socket so you supply your own Type 2 cable. Most home users prefer tethered for convenience. Untethered suits you if you drive more than one EV or want a cleaner look when the car isn't plugged in.

What's the difference between a 3.6kW and 7.4kW charger?

A 7.4kW charger is roughly twice as fast - 60kWh battery takes around 8 hours on 7.4kW vs 16 on 3.6kW. Most modern EVs and UK homes can handle 7.4kW on a standard single-phase supply, so unless your car or electrical setup limits you, go for the 7.4kW. It's the more future-proof option.

Do I need planning permission for a home EV charger?

In most cases, no. Home EV chargers fall under permitted development in the UK. The exceptions are listed buildings and some flats - if your property falls into either of those, check with your local authority before ordering.

Can I use my EV charger with solar panels?

Yes, and it's a great combination. Solar-compatible chargers like the Myenergi Zappi can detect excess energy from your panels and automatically divert it to charge your car - so instead of exporting it back to the grid, you're charging for free. If you have or are planning solar, look at our solar compatible range.
